The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced recipients of the 25th CAST Qiushi outstanding young talent achievement transformation award at the Innovation China Conference 2023 on February 20, 2023.

Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of CAST, and Li Jinghai, director of the Evaluation Committee of the award, president of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), presented awards to the recipients.

The recipients are as follows:

Wang Bo, professor of Dalian University of Technology;

Wang Shijin, senior engineer of iFLYTEK;

Gong Jinlong, professor of Tianjin University;

Zhu Jun, professor of Tsinghua University;

Li Jianxiong, executive vice president of New Hope Group;

Chen Rong, professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST);

Chen Jiming, professor of Zhejiang University;

Yuan Yuyu, senior engineer of Guangzhou Medprin Regenerative Medical Technologies Co., Ltd.;

Zeng Yaoxiang, senior engineer of the First Design Department of the First Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology (CASC);

Pan Xiangbin, chief physician of Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) & Peking Union Medical College (PUMC).

It has been 25 years since the award was established in 1998, recognizing recipients of the categories of practical engineering and achievement transformation respectively once a year, rewarding young Chinese sci-tech professionals who have made outstanding contributions in the field of defense science and technology and transformation of sci-tech achievements.

Over the past 25 years, 549 recipients have been awarded, among whom 371 were practical engineering awardees, and 178 were achievement transformation awardees, and 49 were elected as academicians of the CAS and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

The award is conducive for a large number of leading sci-tech talent to emerge, including Ma Weiming, Chen Zuoning, Chen Wei, Deng Zhonghan, Cheng Jing, Robin Lee, Pony Ma, Wang Chuanfu, Yang Yuanqing and Liang Wengen, all have played a positive role in cultivating innovative talent and promoting the development of science and technology in China.
