The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) held a ceremony to unveil 2022 science communication Top 10 figures, works, events and rumor demolishers on March 26, 2023.

The event was broadcast as a special TV program on China Central Television-1 (CCTV-1).

Long Lehao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and chief designer of the launch vehicle series of the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, Yuan Yaxiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and senior research fellow of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of the CAS, and the service staff of mobile science and technology museum in Gansu province among other 7 individuals / teams were selected as 2022 top 10 figures.

The Temperature of Medicine among other 9 books were elected as 2022 top 10 science popularization works.

The inclusion of "The comprehensive deployment of science education and talent building, and the reinforcement of the national science popularization capacity" in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) among other 9 happenings were selected as 2022 top 10 science popularization events.

The critiques of the Rumors such as "A vegetarian diet can avoid the risk of fatty liver disease" were evaluated as the top 10 rumor demolishers.

The event highlighted the significant achievements of science popularization efforts since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, and invited representatives of central enterprises including China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), China United Network Communication (China Unicom), China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., and Bank of China to share their stories of communicating science.

The event was interspersed by a chorus of "Song of Science - Wings of Dreams" sung by sci-tech professionals, and MVs of "Running Youth" performed by young science communicators among other wonderful art shows.

The 2023 joint action of creating science popularization short videos was initiated at the event.

The event plays a positive role in enhancing the scientific literacy of Chinese citizens through recognizing annual top 10 figures, works, events, and rumors in science popularization field since it was initiated in 2015.

This year’s event attracted a total of 1213 programs nominated by 174 units including relevant ministries and commissions, central enterprises, national academic societies, and associations for science and technology at provincial levels to participate, the new high record demonstrating an influential social impact and a great success of the event.
