The China-South Africa Women Scientists Roundtable Summit was held in Shaoxing City, eastern China’s Zhejiang Province on October 14, 2023.

Wang Hongyang, president of the Chinese Women Scientists Association (CWSA) and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Fang Xin, professor of the School of Public Policy and Management of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and honorary vice president of the CWSA, Wu Lizhu, director of the Supramolecular Photochemistry Research Center of the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and academican of the CAS, and Khathutshelo A. Nephawe, chairperson of the South African Council for Natural Science Professionals (SACNASP) and director at Tshwane University of Technology, attended the event.

Under the theme of "Gathering China-South Africa Women Scientists’ wisdom for innovative development”, the summit aimed to inspire female scientists to make technological innovation, and promote sci-tech exchanges and cooperation at higher levels and wider scope.

Representatives of female scientists from both sides delivered keynote speeches and participated in the dialogue session to exchange views and look for cooperative opportunities in the field of scientific research.

Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee and Government established Shaoxing Women Scientists Association, and invited Qiu Aici, Li Lanjuan, and Huang Hefeng, 3 female academicians whose hometown is Shaoxing, as honorary presidents.

The summit was co-sponsored by the CWSA and the SACNASP, and organized by the Shaoxing Association for Science and Technology.

Experts and professors from Tsinghua University, Chengdu University of Technology, University of Pretoria, and University of Free State of South Africa, as well as relevant leaders from the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, and Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee, attended the event.
